The Fly-in in Muncie was a great success thanks to Jim Mahoney from Florida. We had great weather and outstanding facilities provided by the AMA. We couldn't have had a better place to fly anywhere in the country! This visit to the AMA headquarters made me feel much better about paying those AMA dues every year. If you haven't ever been to Muncie you really should try to get there some day. With over a thousand acres of grass you can always take off into the wind. Attached are a few photos. Hi Jim and all....

There is a model airplane club in Brunswick Maine, where Sal and I usually spend Septembers. I haven't contacted anyone in the group so don't know if their field might be available. It isn't the quality of the field at Muncie!!

Anyway, if there were enough interest in the gyronut group to make it here in September, I'll be glad to contact the members to see what they say. So let's hear your comments!

Keep in mind that the Friday or Saturday "banquet" would be steamed clams and lobsters!

I wish that I had been able to make it this year. I had been planning to attend and it ended up that I could not come. I hope that next year it will work out better. I am sure that I missed a great time and I was also looking forward to seeing everybody again.

Maine is too far from Montana, If you could find another location a little closer I would appreciate it. I thought the Muncie location was Just about as good as any place could ever be. We had more than enough room for Gyros of any size or discription. The weather was great and we had enough room to take off in any direction the wind was coming from. Those of us with trailers were able to camp at the AMA grounds for five dollars a night
Electricity and water included. If there was anything required from the hobby shop there was one within minutes of any site on the entire 1000 acres of the AMA flying site. If it were up to me, I'd take Muncie again over Maine.
I think our small group of Gyronuts could benefit from the exposure we give to other modelers at the AMA site. We need all the new people we can get.

Let's try to expand interest in Gyros by keeping our activities in a place people can be exposed to them.

I couldn't agree more with your comments above. I think the Muncie site is just about as perfect as can be found. If it can be arranged for us to be there again, I'm all for it

My suggestion about a get-together in Maine is simply an offer to visit another spot. It might be attractive for those who live in the 'East'. Plus, there is an attraction for those who enjoy seafood!<G>
