Yesturday I completed flight number 165 on my Kellet It was a windy day and it was just a matter of waiting for the rotor to get up to speed and what a take off you would think it was a heli wow Since april I have been testing a hub designed by Gary Ten Pas as a replacement for the Master airscrew that comes with the Kellet. Gary designed this hub and boy does it ever work well. I have had two failures of the Masterairscrew that resulted in much sorrow and rebuilding. I don't think Garys hub will fail I have attached some pictures of the hub It has double ball bearings and will mount in the same config as the airscrew I am impressed and thought I would share my experience with all the Kellet flyers out there It has taken the rotor loss worry from my flying.

Albert,
Gary has been sending me some pictures of your progres and I am impressed with the results.. I have some coming my way soon I hope for my Giant Whistler.
Are you just using wood screws to hold the hub on?
Like to see you bring your Kellett to Muncie in September.

Yes the screws are the sheet metal type with the allen head I used four since that was the way Gary sent the hub. The blade mount with the round plate I also flew He sent two different kinds and they both worked very well. The hub has a cone shape on top so you can spin up with a drill which I use most of the time I have 15 flights on Garys hubs now and I pretty much stay up until the tank is about empty. The flights are 10 minutes or more I would guess.I am thinking about Muncie could happen

Albert,
Thanks for the information.. I have seen the video on you starting the rotors.. If you would use the Aero Balsa blades you would not have to pre spin as they spin up much easyier then the A of A blades. Mind are 25" so I can give them a little spin by hand and then taxi into the wind and start my take off roll.

I make my own blades from aileron stock and use the pattern from Arizona.I used to race Q15 and we sanded our own props all the time so I just made the blades to look like the props we sanded. I have had poor luck trying to taxi to bulid up rotor speed The fields I fly from are grass and it seems I always hit a bump or gopher hole or something
