Welcome "Web" to the Autogyro Forum here on R/C Universe.
In brief, the autogyro works just like an airplane except instead of a "fixed wing" the autogyro uses an unpowered "rotating wing" for lift.
Historically, the autogyro's most positive attribute is it won't stall! It can takeoff/land in very small areas and since it flies in constant "autorotation", can safely land vertically if necessary due to an engine failure.

Hi Steve,
As you know when I called you from King William, Va. Last week and told you about my 2 flights of the C-4.
later that day I flew again and as I was making a right turn to come back down wind the C-4 went upside down at an altitude of 100'. It was in a no speed turn and was nothing I could do at that time. It's about ready to go again.
Looking back I believe I tried to pull up when maybe an input of the rudder might have did better.
Have you ever experienced that.
Maybe hang angle a little shy?
Still much fun.

Hi Web,
How does an autogyro work? I guess you mean that it does not
have a wing per sey, so what creates lift?
It does have a rotor of course which in esscence is rotating wings.
For complete detailed explaination of how rotating wings work
you will find in the September 2002 issue of R/C Report magazine
Good to see your interest, do come and join this interesting,
different and exciting way to enjoy modeling.
Good luck,
Hal deBolt
