Hey Guys and gals,
Any word on where the 2007 Gyronuts will be? I know some would want to go back to Morris,IL. but I don't believe Bernie is ready to host another, as he put a lot of efford and time in this last one.
What about the Spring Hill one, is it still going to be.. I know they may loose that field someday..
But in Nov. 3-4-5 in Lakeland in conjunction with Wings and Things I am going to have a Autogyro and Electric meet.. You all come.

Hi Jim.
How about Panama in June or July next year? I can`t make it to Lakeland in November because I will have most of my grand children at home then.

Jim.
In June and July, Panama is always in the low 80ties. and at night it gets on the high 70ies. Ther is a lot to see here if you are in for an extended stay.

Hi all. I'm new to RCU.com, but I'm amazed how much info is on here. I recently built a Kellet YG-1B from Autogyro of AZ. Does anyone know of any autogyro fly-in meets this winter in FL or somewhere nearby in the South?
thanks!

All,
It looks like the flying field for the Grundy Aeromodelers in Morris, IL is the probable site for the Sept. 2007 annual flyin. This is the same site as the 2006 flyin. I'm working on finalizing the details. Once I've got it all nailed down I'll post the info on my website and make an announcement here.

Gorden,
2 years ago 2 guys from Michigan came to Muncie and they had a gyro that they were flying, but did not see them this year. I thought sure they would be back with some new designs.

Phil and the gang,
I am going in on Feb. 5th for a hip replacement but still think the Feb. 23, 24 can go on.. Doctors says I can play golf in 6 weeks..Sounds good as I have never played golf yet. If I can play golf I should be able to at least watch pilots fly Autogyro's in 3 weeks.

Hello to all
Am new to this forum and was reading the posts about the possible location of the 2007 flyin, it looks like it has more or less been set for Morris Ill.
I hope I am not posting somethin that has already been mentioned, if so please ignore, but I am a member of the PRA (Popular Rotorcfraft Association ) and the PRA owns the airport at Mentone, Indiana. The PRA holds it's National convention there (most of the time ) and has built up the airport to have camp grounds set up for basic camping and for positions with electric and water for motor homes and campers,(no sewer though, however a septic pump truck comes by ever other day for pump outs, for a small fee) there are permanant showers and restrooms, a permanant concession stand with cooking facilities and a small helio/autogyro museum, there is also a observation tower for convention control and for photography and unicom radio is on field also handheld radios for convention management . It is out in the country though and is somewhat of a fox hunt to find but well worth it, motels are about 13 miles to Rochester In and 13 miles to Warsaw In It is about 3 miles into Mentone, a town of less than 1000. It is basically about 100 miles North of Indianapolis,In and a little East of Hwy 31.
The airport has a asphalt runway facing North and South and has about 12 permanant open face hangars with concrete taxiway in front and is located on a large acerage with mowed grass.
This years convention will be the first week of August and instructors usually arrive about a week early for training but model flying could still be done from the grass or the taxiways, should any one like to come visit this year.
I think that it would be great if someone, or a group could come this year to look over this facility for a possible consideration for next years flyin, I personally feel that a lot of the pilots and prospective pilots could learn a lot from seeing the r/c gyros fly and what it takes to make a good r/c model design, I know I learned a lot in my earlier days of model flying that helped me when I learn to fly the BIG models. (in fact sometimes model flying is more dificult)
If anyone is interested about the possibilities at Mentone, contact Jennifer at the PRA headquarters at 574-353-7227 or go online at www.pra.org .

Tony,
Thanks for thinking about a place to have an Model Autogyro meet.. Being from Indiaina and being an EAA er for many years, Mentone was always a place for Sport Aviation.
A few years back some here in Florida were invited to Wauchula to a Autogyro meet..It looked like you decribted about Mentone. Camping, food, good times. Phil if I have the town wrong tell me..
So far there has been only 2 campers show up .. There used to be more at Spring Hill but now they don't let you camp sense it has been moved.
I will check into Mentone when I get up that wy this summer.. I think that Gary goes there each summer to look around.

Hi Gang,
I have been home from the Hip Surgery since Thursday Noon. Getting arounf fairly well.. Doing my daily exercises.. Sore but gaining more power and movement.
Still is a go for Lakeland for a meeting of Gyronuts on Feb. 23, 24th. Field is located close to Exit 38 on I-4.. North to TowKow (1/2 Mile) turn left , go .8 mile. Field end of road.

Hi Jim...
Glad to hear you are progressing. It isn't a fast recovery....takes patience and exercises!
Hope you can make Spring Hill. Sal and I plan to be there.
Regards,
Bill

Gyronuts,
I am thinking of only doing a one day at Lakeland on Feb. 24th as not to push myself too much after the Hip Surgery.. I got in my truck Friday but is was not comfortable for me yet. I may have to Lu drive me.
So anyone planning on Friday the 23th hold off until Saturday.
Thanks,
Jim
