Yet another question from the rookie ?
The plane I am building has a dual servo setup and as such requires a "Y" cable to be added. My problem is the "Y" cable seems to be about 2 inches short per side, Futaba cables are listed at 9" . So the question is How long can a servo cable be and can i just add the extended wires my self or should I / Can I buy extended cables beyond 9"

You can do any one of the acts. You can also buy Y's that are of different lengths as well as extensions. If you are flying a typical 40 sized unit, there is a lot of options. If you are flying one of the larger planes with servos that draw lots of power, you have to pay more attention to wire size and quality of connectors. It is always wise to use the best connectors available. It is quite okay to splice in wire extensions if you have good soldering skills, better than additional connectors if done properly.

Hi Atoz:
First of all, there is nothing dumb about asking question, especially when you just starting something new. Welcome to the hobby and good luck!
Now, to your question. There are many options to increase length of the servo wire, and most vendors (or 3rd party suppliers) from 6" to over 3 feet long. Just make sure to securely plug connectors AND it is very advisable
to seal the link with the piece of heat shrink tube or with special link lock.
Good flying!!!
