banana plug soldering

Default banana plug soldering

my sons truck has banana plug battery connections and i bought batteries with a different conntection. I have extra banana plugs that i am going to solder on, but i can't push the connection into the red plastic. do i solder on the connection first and push the red plastic over the plug or slide red plastic piece on wire first and solder second. i just cant get plug to lock in. Thanks for the help

Depends on the connector. Some push on over the soldered end first while others push on over the tip first. Either way you need to solder them first then attach the cover. Post a pic of the connectors you have.

i soldered on first and still can't push metal connector into red plastic cover.  I belive i will be ordering another type of connector.  probly deans.  thanks for the help
