Default SuperTurbo Problems !

I own two Dymond SuperTurbo’s I bought one about 3 months ago and ordered another one about 3 or 4 weeks ago. The first one so far has worked flawlessly. I did have a problem with the second ST right out of the box.

Except for one post who mentioned he was having a problem with some buttons on his ST. I have not seen any post relating to ST problems here or at any other site.

The buttons on my first ST all feel the same when depressed. When you push the buttons they all give exactly or near exactly the same feel to the touch when depressed. Which they should.........if you have four buttons that are identical and do a identical function you would expect them to have the same feel when depressed.

I noticed when my second ST arrived the first two buttons felt the same to each other and they had the same feel as the first ST. The Subtract and Info buttons felt differently. If you had the sound on and tapped the buttons like it was a typewriter the buttons would work. If you depressed one of the faulty buttons down and held it.........it was hard to control.

If you turned the sound off it was even more difficult to feel what the button doing and to control the function you were trying to cycle.

I figured these buttons would probably work if you watched what you were doing. But I also figured they would eventually fail, and probably fail after the unit was out of warranty.

RC Accessory told me I could send the unit back to him and he would send me another unit. I felt the unit was faulty and should be sent back to Dymond. So that’s what I did.

After about a week or so someone from Dymonds service dept called me and said they had been tinkering around with my ST and couldn’t find a problem. So I told them I normally used my ST with the sound disabled. So he turned off the sound then tried to use the faulty buttons and noticed there was a problem.

When the button was depressed with the sound off it made it difficult to control the function of that button. With the sound on even though the buttons didn’t depress the same you could tell when the button was on or off.

I have a thing about buttons............they have to work right and hold up or the unit becomes worthless. So I would recommend you check your ST with the sound off. Hold a button down fully depressed and release it to see if you can control the scrolling of the function. I noticed right away the buttons felt differently even before I plugged the unit in for the first time.

I will say Dymond backs these units.............they sent me a new unit which works fine. And all the buttons feel the same. Dymond also returned the new unit in a very timely manner.

The question is would I recommend a SuperTurbo. I would say yes.........even though these chargers are fairly new on the market. They seem to be very good quality and I would expect these chargers to hold up in field use. I received a unit with two bad buttons.........but almost any product will have a small number of defective parts. I think the next 12 months will decide if these chargers are worth the investment.

I do know that RC Accessory offered to take the unit back and Dymond Modelsports serviced the charger without any hassle.

I guess in a sense all SuperTurbo owners are testing these chargers right now. I think if you look at fact that there has only been one other problem with this charger posted at this site speaks for itself.

I do know that the SuperTurbo seems to be a very versatile and accurate charger.

I would hate to not have it in my arsenal of chargers.

So if you want a charger that almost does it all for 109.00 dollars this seems to be the charger to get.
