Motorcycle battery is fine if that 's what you have. Because they are available very cheaply I mainly use a 17AH gel battery which is fine for small packs.

At the field I us a motor cycle battery to power my flight box, then I hook up my chargers so I can charge my flight packs, Rx paks, battery paks for the coredless starters and the batteries for the eletri planes. I use a peak 335 Hitec and a Dymond for the Nimh's. I have to harge the motor cyle battery every two weeks.

Just be careful - had a gal pull out in front of me, I slammed the brakes. The field box fell over on the wing, unbeknownst to me - by the time I got home and checked, the acid had saturated a servo, and eaten the wood around the servo mount...the gel's don't leak like that....

Make sure that you have a carrier for the battery so the acid doesn't spill. I have been thinking about adding an extra battery to my truck bed just for my planes and things.
