i just purchased a triton charger....im trying to charge a 2300 mah 5 cell nicad pack.....(pretty new - buts its been charged and discharged before)......set the triton at 2.3 charge rate....5 cells.....1.0 discharge.......discharges just fine....but only charges for about 20 minutes - puts in about 500 mah...and says its through....ive tried the charger on another battery that i know is good - and get the same results..btw, im using a pyramid 14 amp power supply - but get the same results using my 12 volt battery..any suggestions?

RE: triton question
I'm coming up with 702 mah for 2.3 amp rate at 20 minutes. Well anyways on the nicad setting there's a safety timer limit. You could check that see if it is set to 20 minutes. If it is then increase or try decreasing your rate and see how long it charges.
You can also try the charge function instead of the D<C function. Another thing is I wondering if your battery has only 500-7000 mah used out of it then it will only take that much to charge it back up...

RE: triton question
You could also change the voltage for the peak detection. Make it a bit larger than the default number. This will allow the pack to charge better. Sometimes, a new pack will have a small voltage variation that the Triton detects and thinks is the end of the charge.

RE: triton question
I had have the same problem, and at the end I have solved with the wires conection.
If the wires are so thin or the contact it´s not good, the charger cut before the charge is complete.
You have to use a very good wire and very goog conextion.

RE: triton question
I agree about the wire thing. I had a guy in my club complain about the same thing. I pluged in a set of my home made leads and all was well.
