Default Good Futaba batteries

Pulled down my old Adrenalin plane the other day (hadn't flown it in 2 years) and found a neatly wrapped Futaba NR-4J 600 mah nicad still in the plane. I always date my batteries and on this one was written Oct. 1999. It still looked new so I slow charged it and then took it down on my Sirius Super Test ....to my surprise it cycled a little better than 100 %. Tested it again and same results. I think that speaks well for the quality of batteries that Futaba uses...this is the pack that is wrapped in red and the batteries are yellow. I've got a few more of these same packs that i'm using and they all test good. It just seems like a pack this old wouldn't be any good.....any thoughts, comments....
