Which Charger?
I got a Cirrus Pro Charger, and it works great, has all the bells and whistles that you might need, and also doubles as a field charger, so that you can use it at the Field or use the adapter and plug it up at home into a standard socket. Will charge Nicd's as well as NIMH. Another plus and you can get it for about $139 which isn't an unwise investment. Hope this helps

Which Charger?
FINALLY! Someone who went out and bought one of these like I did. I love this charger. Like Stang said, it comes with an AC AND DC inputs, so you can charge stuff at home and bring it to the field.
It also cycles, and discharges. Hobby People has a sale every once in a while where you can get it for $109. The regular price ain't bad either.

Which Charger?
I was in the same boat about 2 weeks ago, narrowed it down to the FMA Super Nova or the ST. I read a lot of reviews and ended up with the Super Turbo. However it's worth the time to see what it is you expect out of the equipment.

Which Charger?
For reading this forum I think the best bang-for-your -buck chargers are (in no particular order):
Dymond Super Turbo
FMA Einstein XL
Cirrus Pro Charger
(Litco if u can find it )
Sirius Pro
I got an Einstein myself based on what I wanted to do wiht it.
With most of these teh differences are few or for specialized issues
pick one and u won't be sorry

Patrick

where can you buy a
Sirius Pro ?
I have been in the Charger quandri for awhile myself ... I almost bought a hobbico ACCU-PRO Plus ... but held back to see what may be better choices ...
does the sirius pro double as a field charger?
or sould one opt to have the field charger seperate from the home charger/cycler/discharger?
I hate questions ... they always cost me more money!

Don't know about the Sirius, but I want to make sure it's not getting confused with the CIRRUS Cycle Pro.
The Cirrus can double as a field charger with the DC adapter included in the package.

Which Charger?
As far as the Super Turbo goes and please don't get me wrong as I am barley learning how this whole battery maintenance works. It will not only charge just your hobby batteries it will charge any nicad/nickel you own be it cordless drill etc..... I brought back to life a battery for my dads 12 volt cordless drill which was a NiMh. The charger that came with his drill would no longer charge it, the ST put life back into it. As I stated above I am just kind of learning and know nothing about these other chargers as they might do the same as well.
Keep in mind again unknowing what the other chargers mentioned above in this thread will do, the ST cycles and discharges. One down fall that comes to mind on the ST is its inability to charge more then one battery pack at a time. I found ways around this by purchasing battery holders for single battery cells. Packs, well still no problem.
As far as using it in your house to charge batteries it does require a 12 volt power supply in order to work at a min of 10 amps per say. I constructed one from an old computer power supply and also purchased a pyramid power supply at a reasonable price.

chargers are a long term investment
why buy econimical chargers
get the best and save money in crash due too battery failure
take a shultze isl6 430d or 530d. it charge everythink from nicd to litium. it test pack by measuring resistance and tell you if the battery is wrong under load (check amperes on 5/6 servos)it saves money avoiding the problems

Which Charger?
The best charger to buy is one that will do what you want.
It seems the chargers that are recomended in this thread Shulze/ Cirrus are good for high capacity packs, which are used in flying electrics, as opposed to lower charge rate chargers which IMO are better for reciever/ transmitter packs in gas planes.
Also, of the charges that are recomended here, has anyone tested theirs for accuracy? The features and ease of use are an important aspect of the quality but isn't accuracy of what your cycler/charger/analyzer is telling you important as well?
A side note...as I was checking out the Cirrus I read a review that seemed to have a lot of informatioon wrong.
http://www.hobbypeople.net/review/350370man.htm
The part about Delta peak that knows when the battery reaches full charge because it is at 1.05 volts was interesting. I may be wrong but, I wouldn't put much stock in that review.

Which Charger?
I love my ST. Why..It will charge a large single cell fast! I use a 4.4 Ah single for on board glow and this charger fills it fast.
The ST seems to regularly stop charge so it chan check the condition of the detination cells. Seems safe.
Also took only a few hours of playing with it to understand the controls. Compact, large heat sink, seems well built.

cirrus cycle pro review
Another thing about the Cirrus Cycle Pro review is that it mentions on the side that it has a trickle charge. There is no trickle charge on this unit nor do they claim to have it in the manual. Interesting that the review would say it does. Who writes these reviews anyway???
BTW, I always trust and enjoy the reviews in R/C Report. They also give the name of the person who does the reviews and are not just sugar coating the specs.
