Care and feeding of LIION and LIPO
Hey guys,
I have recently changed all my batteries from Nimh to LIPO. I have a LIION on my ignition and two LIPO on the reciever. I hjave been told that I should charge my batteries between 7.2-7.0 for my two cell packs. I was out at the field a friend said he tops off his packs every day. So the question is who is right? should I wait untill the battery is lower or top off every day. Also I have a hobbico mkII charger and while it does ok ther batteries do not seem to charge as far as they should. I understand that I should see between 8.3-8.4 For a full charge, and i usually see about 8.2 after the charge is this unusual or is it the charger.
Thanks
Mark

Mario73,
LiPos unlike Nicads give a very good condition of their charge just by a voltmeter reading. Use some common sense and you'll be fine. I don't like topping off charges. Why is it necessary? It is not like you don't have enough capacity. LiPos don't loose their charge like NiMh packs do just by setting.
The Hobbico MKII has a very conservative charging algorithm. What you are seeing is normal.
