Default Lithium-ion voltage (8v) into JR reciever

I accidently plugged my lith-ion batt (8v) into receiver (JR) without regulator. Everything seems to be working.
Could I have caused damage that might show up later or would I know right away?

A lot of recievers have regulators in them, its called BEC in the specs...
