Default battery life and check

Today my son crahed his plane (lancair /91 os pump /engine.The battery pack was six months old( 1200 mhamp. it charges with triton,
after flights I read 5.76 volts) he made 8 flights.and when he lost control of the aileron and the plane falling, we tested de battery
that read 2.86 volts.
I'd like to know what we should do between flights to test the battery
thanks daniel from Montevideo Uruguay

You can't get 2.86 on a 4 cell pack without the pack being damaged.
About the lowest you will go is 3.4 - 3.6volts and this still may damage the back.
If the voltage was that low, then the pack is completely dead.
I would not fly a 4 cell pack below 4.4-4.8 volts.
If you have a way to test the pack, just do the test after each flight.

Loaded meter test. Buy one thier called expanded meter with a load switch. Test between flights. A 1200mAH 4.8V batttery should be loaded around 200mA to 300mA and read no less than 4.4V must stop but some stop at 4.6V on loaded meters and call it a good day.
