Alternatively, put the battery in the middle of your driveway and secure it with a cement block or heavy weight. Get a nicad charger with extra long lead and set it for 4 amps and proceed to charge. Get your video camera and start recording. Then post the video on youtube or this site.

OK. Have a sense of humor. I've had a couple of batteries where a cell died. Tried taking them apart but it is tricky. Especially if the center cell is dead-which is most likely. I dont thinks its safe if you don't know exactly what your doing. I just ended up disposing of them or trying to blow them up.

Well, I think its safer to blow them up the way I said, then to try to take them apart and accidently short them on your workbench. Anyway, its not totally safe but it looks cool!

Cells can be separated by sharpening the end of a popsicle stick or tongue depressor to a long chisel point, then carefully use a couple of these inserted between the cells to slowly pry them apart. Constant pressure will eventually separate the cells so that the bad cell can be removed. Be very careful of the tabs as they are fragile and can be broken off easily.
