Default 1800mah nicd help

HI i have a 1800mah Ni-cd 7.2v and a lipo 4000mah 7.4v, i have an EQ swallow charger and it takes the NICD 1hour 40 minutes apprx, and the lipo 1hr 6mins apprx.

Should a lower MAH battery be quicker???

On the screen this is how i charge it I have changed nothing just changed to the NICD setting and charge.

"NiCd CHARGE
C=1.2A" Then i hold enter and it says "checking battery"

starts to charge and says

"CHG (10mins etc)
NC+1.20A 8.379V(this number changes)"

Hi, welcome to RCU. It seems that most batts can be charged in around an hr because the larger capacity gets charged at a higher rate. If the same current was used then the smaller batt would definately be charged quicker. In your case the 1800 would be charged in less than half the time of the 4000. Your current is probably 1.2 amps and if you are in a hurry can possiblt be bumped up to 1.8 amps or even higher if the battery doesn't get hot.

if it is 1800 mah, the highest you could charge it at is 1.8 amps.

for 4000mah u could use 4 amps. if ur charger supports that high

not nessecarily, it may be just fine. Many nicads are able to be charged at 2-3C. If the battery is a high quality pack and in good shape 3.6 or 4 amps will not hurt it. If the pack is older or a cheap pack then it may get too hot at 1-2C. It really just depends on the specific pack. A good indicator is the battery's temp at end of charge. The upper limit (NICAD)is usually around 125 deg F.

If at 1.8 it is already that warm then don't go any faster. One thing is for sure that charging faster will wear the pack out faster , but there's no magic line per say.
