Default Using 2 packs of diff. Mah on one receiver?????

Hello all, i am setting up a Great Planes Yak 25% with an O.S. 160FX on the nose. I was planning on using 2 seperate batts running through 2 seperate switches into my reciever. I was planning on using a 6V 2300Mah and a 6V 1800Mah but i had someone tell me not to do it as the 2300 would try to charge the 1800????? Is this right or am i ok to use the diff. packs??

thanks for your help

Always use the same matching MAH packs. One will die faster then problems can occur.

Yes, you will be fine by using these batteries in parallel. Just be sure not to charge them in parallel as that will not work well.

thanks Rodney, i was planning on using the diagram in the article Barracuda pointed out which shows just that. With one pack at 1800 mah and the other at 2300 that should give me lots for this plane.

I've been using a 2000mA and a 1500mA on my 33% Extra for 1 year with absolutely no problems. They absolutley do not try to charge/discharge each other. I did a test on this using one battery fully charged and the other discharged to .9V/cell. The charged one put 215mA into the other one over a 1 hour period. I doubt you will ever allow your batteries to get in this predicament. Use the 2 batteries you indicated above and you will have no problems.

My only suggestion is that, that size airplane does not need that much battery, you could go with 2 batteries of 1/2 the capacity and have no problems and save weight.

They will not charge/discharge each other because there is no difference in potential between the two packs, since they are both six volts.
