Default Lithium Battery Discharge Limit???

I tried using two lithium 1350 mah batteries to power my GWS Tiger Moth with a 5 amp GWS ESC. My question is---will the GWS ESC turn the motor off at the correct voltage level for these lithium batteries as it does for the Nicads or NiMH batteries. The reason ask is because the other day I wanted to know how long the motor would run at full throttle so I tied my TM to a table and ran the motor for 50 minutes and it finally stopped, but after it stopped it did not run right any longer and finally seized up and quit when i tried to run it with another battery. Thanks for you advice in advance. Ron
