Default charger issues

Hey guys, I have an Airtronics mx sport 2.4 radio. it takes 8 AA cells, I am using NIMH batteries & have always chaged the batteries in the radio with my delta peak charger (just put the correct end on it) however on the mx sport radio it won't allow the charger to start charging. If I use a cheap tricle charger then it will work. Any ideas as to why this is? I like having 1 charger for everything. The delta peak charger does both trickle & fast charge, 4.8 through 9.6 volts.

Thanks, Rich

Default RE: charger issues

Rich,
I am not familiar with that particular radio.
Many of the radios have a diode in the charging circuit
to prevent damage if the charger is improperly connected.
This diode will prevent the charger from sensing what the batteries are doing.
This could prevent the charger from starting if it can't read the voltage.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck,

Thank you for the response. This sounds like it could be the case. Oh well I guess I will just have to use a seperate charger for my radio.

Thanks, Rich

The same problem arises on the battery cores of my 9z, what we do is solder a plug directly to the battery terminals and charge from there
