Is the pack warm when you take it off the charger?
A peak charger is ideal, but generally if the pack is a little warmer than room temperature it's ready to go.

A peak charger is not ideal for charging receiver and transmitter packs.
The question here is what charge rate is the wall charger and what capacity is the battery, only when we know these facts can there be a determination as to how long to charge the battery.
If the charger provides a charge rate of 1/10th the capacity of the battery, then the correct time for a full charge is 14-16 hours.

Peak chargers are exactly what their name implies.

Heat is a good indication of charge state. Fully charged Nickel based batteries will heat up significantly when fully charged.

Yes, in two simple words. False peak
Actually the primary problem lies in not doing a formation charge at C/10 with a new a new Nimh pack before attempting to use a peak detecting charger.
The "AA" cells used for receiver packs and transmitters will perform better if a simple overnite charge of C/10.

pilot, stop trying to show off what you know by typing everything you know.
Simplicity is the only way to teach newbies to begin with. You're simply trying to show off knowledge that has no PRACTICAL basis in this thread.
We are trying to help a NEWBIE. Hell, ThunderbirdJunkie raced electric cars for years with high end NiCd and NiMh batteries, and has been running nitro for years, and he doesn't know what all this C/10 formation crap you're talking about is. It's IRRELEVANT.
A false peak is no big deal. A false peak is better than what Mr. Evolva is experiencing, which is NO PEAK or battery performance.
If his wall charger is 100mah, which nearly all of them are, from fully empty a 1400mah battery will take 14 hours to charge.
Batteries are rarely fully empty. If they are they're generally unsavable.
Mr. Evolva, leave that battery on the charger for about 6 or 7 hours after it seems dead. Then see how long it lasts. Good luck.

OK, I see in your duplicate thread that the battery is 1600mAh. While you didn't specify the rating of your wall charger, 50 to 60mA is common on older chargers for radio systems, newer ones may be more around 110mA, if you have one in this range then just give the battery a charge for a good 24 hours and see how the capacity is. With slow charge rates, don't have to worry about overcharging the battery[8D]
