3700mAh LiPo dead?
G'day
I dragged out my electric glider today to fly it. It has not been flown since about March. The battery has been topped up a few times over the months The battery is a 3700mAh 3 cell LiPo. I have only ever charged it with a small balancing charger. Today I tried to fly the plane but the battery was behaving as if it were nearly flat but when I tried to charge it, the charger (Swallow) said it was over voltage and the balance charger said it was fully charged. Ideas? I suspect I need a new battery. Sad, because it has had very little use over the last 18 months or so. |
RE: 3700mAh LiPo dead?
My guess is a bad connection or resistance.
Voltage high when charge and voltage low when discharge is characteristic of very high resistance in the system somewhere. |
RE: 3700mAh LiPo dead?
How did you store the lipo when not in use? Lipos should be stored at storage voltage (3.85 v per cell) and kept in a cool dry place. Storing a fully charged lipo or a discharged one will definitely cause it to have an early death.
