my bad. it is not automatically a trainer, but will be fairly stable because it suffers from both the stabilizing effect of dihedral, and the pendulum effect. of course weight factors in also, trainers shouldn't be overweight.

You should see a Frigate or Lil Bull fly
both are very hot flying rudder-elevator planes with a high wing, a ton of dihedral, light weight and a light wingloading. Both are really tough to chase combat planes, and very non-trainer like 
I agree with you in general though
