Default R.I.P. Mustang

My dumb thumbs sent this beautiful P-51 plane nose first into the ground. I got disorientated during a spin and and sent it the wrong way. I must admit I learned a lot with this plane, but my other trainers are a lot easier to fly. My instructor and others at the field agreed it was time to put this one to rest, so we stripped her and said good-bye. I plan on replacing her with a Sig 4 star as I heard this is a good second plane.

Condolences on your former P-51.

A Four Star is an excellent second plane. If you have an instructor I can also highly recommend a Saratoga 40 (I have a TT Pro-46 engine in mine).

Just checked the Saratoga out and I could do that one. The engine in the mustang is a new evolution 45 so it would fit perfect. Thanks

after I retired my mustang, and no 4 star 40's around, I went with a World Models Sky raider Mach II, http://www.airborne-models.com/html/...?ProductID=147, its also a perfect match for the evo 45, and I love mine

I admit I do not know how bad the winters are in Louisville, and you may not have bad days. If you have another plane to fly while you do it, I would say build a kit. It will teach you so much about the planes you love to fly.

Kit building is not really tough to do and some find it a lot of fun. I know available space and tools can be a problem for some. I do not have the best space ( dining room table/ kitchen floor, bar)but building my Tiger II was a good thing and it is a fantastic plane to fly as a second. I have done a couple mods to mine now a couple years later and it is still one of my favorites.

By no means am I saying anything bad about ARF I love em. Just throwing out an idea.

The Goldberg Tiger 2 is a good kit if you go that way and a forgiving second plane as well.

As long as you learned a lesson, you will always come out a winner.

That van reminds me of the Bang Bus except no tinted windows.
