How many of you guys are Welders, or have welded something?

Have you ever welded something, then after the metal cools just a bit (so it's not white / orange / red hot anymore ) you say to yourself ''hey, that weld looks pretty good'' and reach out and grab ahold of the part to get a real good look at it...[X(][:@]

Big chunks of metal can stay realllllyyy hot for a long time...(it's not a good idea, to take your gloves off too soon...)

You only need to do that trick once...

My dad was a welder for about 40 years...welded M-4 Sherman tanks (among other vehicles ) at the Detroit Arsenal during WWII...he had a few stories too...
(arc welding with 1/2'' rod and 600 Amps and something like 30 passes to weld the thick armor plate in the front of the tank...lots of ''fun'' on a 90 degree summer day )
My mother welded ships together in a shipyard during WW-II in a Northern shipyard. They then had to get to the oceans via the big rivers. It was while doing this that she met my father who was a P-38 Photo Recon pilot in training and later sent to England.
