Default where do I find out how to program 2 servo elevator for dx-7

Looking through the manual for my dx-7 where do I find how to set up dual servos for elevator. Never had to use that before.

The manual isn't very clear on it from what I remember. I haven't had my DX-7 for a while now but I think you set up custom mix #5 or #6 with the elevator as the master and a spare channel as the slave.Just plug your second elevator servo into that spare channel. You may have to reverse it. You have to use mix 5 or 6 because those two allow the master trim to work the slave trim. The others have independent trim if I remember correctly.

Like I said, it has been a long time so I might not be 100% correct.. I seem to remember posting the procedure here a while back along with pictures of the menus. i will try and look for it.
Thanks ChuckW. It always amazes me the knowledge of those on RCU.

I couldn't find the step-by=step that I remember posting but I did find this:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_85...tm.htm#8623078

I used programmable mix #1 so now I am a little confused. Maybe it will give you the general idea though and you can experiment from there to make it work right.

Since you are mixing it with a Aux Channel be sure to inhibit the switch for that channel! Mix 5 & 6 allow trim, the other mixes do not.

If what you wish to achieve is using one servo for each half of a seperated elevator I just use a Y harness. However, this is fine if both servos are mounted side by side,BUT, if they are on opposite sides of fuse then you will have to use a reversing Y. Althought this can also be achieved by using a Jr servo on one side and Futaba on other. They rotate opposite to each other. This is a handy trick from time to time. Just carefully check your throws on each.

Aux 2 is the channel to use. As others have said be sure to use mix 5 or 6 and to inhibit the switch for Aux 2.

The main advantage over a Y lead is that you have access to reversing, travel and sub trim to assist with setting up.

Just talked with Horizon Hobby tech person. He helped me set it up quite quickly. I will try to post the procedure. He did use mix 6- and
Aux-2. He said that way you can trim them individually and reverse them individually. Hopefully I can remember all of the steps.

Here's how Idid mine with a DX7 AR7000 in a UCD.46.

AUX 2 INH

Iused Mix5
Elev - Aux2, SW: ON, Offeset 0, Rate:Up/ +90, Dn/ +90

Ibelieve Mix 5&6 are the mixes to use because you can adjust each servo independantly and the trim button trims both servos at the sametime.

I have the right half of the elevator plugged into the Elev channel, and the left half plugged into te Aux2 channel. Once I set the direction of the right half, Imix the left half to get it to match the travel of the right.

It's fairly easy to do once you have done it a few times. IMHOit's better to mix it than to use Yconnectors.

Hope this helps.

Aloha,
Les

Excellent, now you will be doing this set up on a regular bases. Gives you complete programing of each surface which is important as you grow to more complex and aerobatic/3d/giant aircraft.

Irish: It's a good thing the reverse is software, and not done by a simple switch. That would put you in deep kimchee in a hurry!! I wonder what an elevator induced roll would look like? [:@]

Probably not much different than my regular rolls.[8D]

Would that be a ROLL or an AUGER?

I had a nightmare about doing that one...

If you have a servo on each side of your fuse, then all you need is to Y harness them together into the elev slot. You may have to rotate one of the servos arms 180 degrees so they both are moving the elev in the same direction. I have this set up on a U CAN DO 60 and it works perfectly. No messing around with mixing channels.
