Default Sanding Adhesive

I ordered a couple of great planes ez sanders and was wondering, how to use just regular hardware store sandpaper, is there an adhesive I could spray on the back of the paper, or any tips or trick I could use? Thanks

I use a glue stick (school supplies at Wal-Mart) and coat the back of the sandpaper before applying it to the sanding bar. It holds quite well and USUALLY allows the sandpaper to be removed easily. For the few times I have had a piece stick to the sanding bar, a razor blade scraper takes care of that.

Sure just use a spray on contact cement such as 3m 77spray.

Ditto - hit it with a heat gun if it seems a bit stubborn. Heat gun might work with the Wal-mart glue as well.

Also.......Goo-Gone works well to get the stuff off. I keep a bottle in my shop for just such things.

Is that great planes sander with the different angles for leading edges worth it?

I got one and have used it very little. The rounded parts were never the right radius. The 'hard' angles might work OK.

I like Campy's suggestion of glue stick. The sprays are usually pretty messy.

Ditto on the 3M 77 spray adhesive. It is great for attaching "regular" sandpaper the the sander

Also, ditto on the sander that has the 3 shapes on it. I don't even know where mine is any more as it's next to worthless IMHO. It's hard to keep the paper attached to the curve/angle. It's just not that usefull as well.

I'll add my ditto to the sander that has 3 shapes on it................I use it to hold an instruction manual open or to keep the door open.

Whew! Now I don't feel so badly when I admit I thought the flat ones worked so nicely, the one with the shapes would too. Mistake. Can't get the sandpaper to stay down inside the groove or in the curve.

Getting the paper on them is the easy part, finding a use for one is the hard part.

I have used a cheap spray adhesive at Menards...claims to be epoxy..stuff REALLY works good..but I think its more for permanent sanding blocks..not sure it will come off without some serious work...

Works good for making a bunch of sanding blocks from scrap though..
