Default Scratch build... build?

I know I am in way over my head, but id like to get a few things cut out for some ziroli p-47 plans I have. It's a project that I will chip away at over a few years, and I was wondering if there is a thread, or some good tips and tricks for transfering plans to the wood and the best way to cut parts out. Anything would be helpful. I appreciate it, and happy Turkey day to all! Thanks.

What I do in some cases, is have the plans copied and then cut the copied plans and put on the wood. I use rubber cement so I can take the paper off after I have cut the profile. Works for me.

I believe there is a forum for Building.
You might try looking in and posting in that forum.
Good Luck,

I do like Gene said, I always make up another set of plans so I can cut one set up to use the templates directly on the wood. I use contact cement or spray mount glue for mounting photos. I rough cut the parts on a scrool saw then sand to the lines.

There is a scratch building forum here on RCUniverse. Just go there and do a search. You will find a lot of discussions on the subject.

There is no need to cut and destroy any drawings, you can transfer patterns via a soft pencil on see-through paper or just punch trough the drawing onto the wood in critical corners using a needle and then connect the dots.

It isn't a cut and destroy, by having an extra set of plans made at your local Kinko's/Fedex you can cut one set and build over it so the originals are saved. A lot of us that build from plans trade with each other so having the originals is always a good idea. Kinko's can also put the plans on disc and we can trade back and forth on the computer. Also gives you a perfect sized and shaped part without a lot of work. With a copy you can also rub down the part over the wood with acetone and it transfers the ink onto the wood. Ziroli plans cost enough to make getting a copy a good idea.
