I can't get th dang thing started! I put a new glow plug in it. I dont think it is getting fuel. Any suggestion would be great.

make sure your glow driver is charged
fresh fuel
Remove needle valve and blow a bit of fuel through to purge the line reset needle to about 2 or 2 1/2 turns out or RICH
set the airbleed screw using a large T pin or small paper clip as a feeler guage or 50% open
Check your tank INSIDE AND OUT for air leaks LOOK closley
Refil tank Hold your finger over the carb inlet and flip it over wide open.
, WITHOUT a glow driver on, until fuel just gets through the line to the carb.
Close the carb to a setting approximating a high idle or just about 3/16 of an inch open
flip it over FAST no glow driver 3 times
Apply glow driver and start as normal
reset the high speed, needle keep it on the rich side

Look and see if it's getting fuel.

Looking into the carb is a good way to tell. Looking at the fuel line is another way.

If a cowl is in the way, take it off until you sort the problem out.

Sometimes debris will clog the brass weight in the fueltank, but then people will come in here and tell me I'm wrong.

JD, are you using an electric starter?  If so, hold your finger over your muffler exhaust hole and hit the engine with the starter.  Don't be looking directly into the carb when you do this or you'll probably get an eyeful..... don't ask me how I know.  [8D]  If fuel shoots out the carb or after you hit it with the starter, look down in there to see if there's fuel in the carb.  If there's no fuel in the carb, you'll probably want to go through OzMo's steps above.  If it's not getting fuel at all, I bet the fuel and vent lines are reversed or maybe your  fuel line fell off inside the tank and it's not feeding.  Don't ask me how I know either one of those either.  LOL  Don't worry dude, it's happened to ALL of us!    Stick with it and you'll get it sorted out.  Oh yeah, when you hold your finger over the exhaust, make SURE you keep your arm out of the way of the prop or get someone to stick their finger over it while you hold the plane....  Luckily that is ONE thing I haven't done yet. (knock on wood)

Did you open the high end needle?? They don't come pre set.

Has anyone suggested the possibilty of a cracked fuel feed line? Several times I have found a cracked fuel line often right at a fuel connection nipple. They are often difficult to see so pull and bend a little on the fuel line at each connection while looking very closely for a break in the line, or just replace all the external lines including the one that runs from the remote needle valve to the carb. OS 40 LA's are normaly EZ to start and keep tuned, very user friendly. I also had a time once with a 65LA that a Great Planes remote fill valve would fail to pop closed after fueling and I couldn't draw any fuel to the engine (not the engine's fault). If you are using a fueling valve on the plane, check that too.

some times the clunk gets stuck in the FRONT of the tank after a bonk. Grab the landing gear firmly with the prop towards you (engine off of course).
Snap the plane away from you a couple of times then just shake it a little to hear if the clunk is free. Make sure your fuel lines are not reversed.

It wont start!!

Well thanks for all the great suggestions. Turns out all it was, was a bad battery in the glow ignitor. I changed the battery and it fired up first try by hand. Please hold the intelligence comments. Already got pleanty of those from the wife. I was ready to put it under the back tire of my truck and smash it to bits. Runs like a champ now.

Glad to hear you managed to get the little beast to run. The LA engines may not be the most powerful, but they are pretty easy to live with.

I suspect that there are thousands of engines out there in garages and sheds which have been thrown in a corner because of some small problem which had nothing to do with the engine. A friend was recently given a perfectly good Saito 72 simply because the previous owner crashed the plane it was in. It was his fault too.

But for a ha'penny of tar the ship was lost.
