Hello, first time here and first post. As much as I've always liked the RC hobby I've never really had time to take it up. I have, how ever, come into a box of old gas powered RC airplane parts. A friend of my mothers gave it to me. Her husband passed away years ago and this was some of his old stuff.
I can post all of the pictures you need, I just need help ID'ing and possibly selling all of it.
I have in total 13 engines. Some turn, some don't. Some large, some small. One in particular that is new in box, still in the plastic with the instructions and pamphlet. It's an MRC Enya .15 IV TV. It also has the muffler (what appears to be a strap on muffler?) in the plastic, in the box as well.
18 propellors, 13 plastic, 5 wood.
4 fuel tanks, I think. That's what I would assume they are.
4 fuel cut off timers.
A new in box, Top Flite Mono Kote heat sealing tool. Still in the plastic inside the box.
Any info you could provide would be wonderful. Thanks in advance!

what do you want to know? A price? not much....as most of us don't trust a product that we don't know....I mean an engine a friend had and you saw work a couple of times a month compaired to an engine you have never seen before......You should add pictures

OK first off welcome to the forum.
Folks post about 'finds' or picks (a term used by a popular TV show) all the time. There is nothing wrong with that but do understand that we are in a full blown recession values of model engines and other stuff varies widely.
The engines are likely the primary items of interest you may have and please do post the best pictures of them that you can (This is important in any assessment and for use in selling).
The fact that some do not turn over is not neccessarily important, in fact the dried castor that causes this does act as a preservative. The values can run from worthless to more commonly anywhere from in the fifties. Less common of course are nice collectible finds that will reach into the hundreds.
When it comes to the collector just because something is old does not make it a collectable, In fact that has almost no bering.
So what do you have and lets see the pictures.

"Fuel cutoff timers:" Are they very old pneumatic style, or are they the spring type. Makes a difference and normally for Free Flight.
Engines: The only place to get top attention is eBay. Lots of collectors. Prices change daily. I have seen prices change there, on engines, especially collector items by several hundred dollars in a week. I have done from poor to excellent and back.
But that is where the collectors are and also the bargain hunters.

Thanks for the reply guys. I can assure you that I'm not a "picker". These were just given to me. I didn't figure that I had stumbled upon a gold mine, but I know how collectors can be and wanted these to go somewhere useful instead of sitting in my closet. I'll post some photos later tonight after I get home.

Thats great Rooster will look forward to the pictures and most here will give you an honest idea anyway.
Keep the picture as close as you can focus and one engine per picture , If possible a photo of each side of the engine will help the most.

Thank you so much guys, you've been a great help getting me started in the right direction. I've put two on Ebay and one sold already. I don't know the rules on this forum about this stuff since I'm not an RC guy and haven't been here but a day, but if any of you guys want some of this stuff, just PM me. I'm scouring the web now to find out what it's all worth. I'm not trying to get rich and would like them to go to a good home. I'm a sucker for vintage stuff and if any of it is any good I'd like to go to some one who can appreciate it.
Thanks guys!

You're welcome Gavin,
Yeah...you're not supposed to actively try and sell directly through the forums but there is the RCU Marketplace...sorta like ebay but w/o the fees...[8D]
Go to the top of the page and check out the Buy and Sell sections...
Wish I had some $ but I'm "financially challenged" at this time...
Good luck!

Good Madewell .49s are usually fairly high priced and sought for enegines. Many years ago I flew one on a Cl Sterling Corsair, very overweight, and it really went well.
One of the very strange items that really surprised me was that with the Madewell, the corsair flew FAST on a 10-8. It was never really up using a 11-5, 6 or 7. While fast straight and level, aerobatics just were not in the book. Doing a wing-over required gentle pull-outs starting before reaching the 45 degree line on the down side.
I changed out to a Super Cyclone, and with a 12-6 at an estimated speed about 2/3 of the Madewell, I could do Lazy-8s easily under an estimated 50 degree height using 60 ft lines. Loops, wingovers, etc. with a HEAVY scale model were fun.
I now have a new-in-box Madewell .49 that was used only for display. Some day....???
Regardless of the Corsair incident, I am a firm believer that a Madewell .49 is a work of art.
