I am relatively new to RC and am currently building a SIG Kadet LT-40 as my first plane. I have a Spektrum DX5e radio and need advice as to what receiver and servos to buy. I mistakenly bought JR Sport RS600 receiver and ST47 servos which I now find out are are not for this particular radio. Can someone please advise what options I have.

You are correct that the receiver won't work with your radio, but the servos you purchased will work just fine. No need to replace those. Use at least a 5 cell nicad/nimh battery or the equivelent lithium battery if you go with the ar500. Less chance of a brown out.
