Are you open to thinking out loud guesses or do you want an answer from someone who uses these filters and actually knows which way they go?

Other than the size it looks like the filter elements we used in automotive carburetors in the 1970s. B was correct for them.

No answer means guesses are fair game. Its a filter, not a check valve. That being said, most filters are installed so that the fluid going through them travels from the outside to the inside. More surface area on the filter element mean longer life before clogging can occur. My two cents.

No hits because either side would work. Its a little too much to worry about. The flow from either side will be fine. These arent extremely complicated parts. We just make em that way.

If there is a screen on one side of the filter it goes on the down stream side of the flow.

There are other types of Glow filters out there that aren't complicated in any way, and do a fine job in keeping the dirt out. My filters like some of the Du-bro Glow Filters only have a screen, and it can go either way.

Either way will work, just don't reverse it in a year without cleaning it or you will pump all of the trapped stuff directly to the carb. Install the same way on any additional planes you may build (develop a habit). Or just filter the fuel when it comes out of the transport bottle and forget it. (controversy alert)

Connect it so the fuel is flowing TO the carb.

SORRY, JUST HAD TO SAY IT.
