Default Which plane would be the best for me?

so, i'm after a plane to get me started again in the air side of rc, i'm into scalers more than anything, but a 1/10 ish bush plane would be awesome next to my scalers, not to mention a lot of fun!so these are the ones i'm considering:

so i'm looking at several planes,
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/ERC2200.html
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/HBZ7380.html i would get a dx5e for this one
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/MPU214235.html electronics suggestions needed
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/PKZ4500.html
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/greatpla.../HCAA2527.html
http://www.nitroplanes.com/69a703-j3...w-rtf-24g.html</p>

tricycle gear ones, i'd prefer tail draggers since i don't exactly have a good run way where i'd like to be flying(scaler area of course)
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/EFL2725.html a bit big but still a contender
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/greatpla.../HCAA0705.html
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/greatplanes/rtf/HCAA42.html

i'd really like to avoid a trike gear plane, it's just not what i want, but i am ok with getting one to learn on. you just wouldn't find a trike gear out landing in the middle of the woods in a clearing or on a river bed. Ido have no plane experience, but i'm good with cars. i do have orientation stuff down though from the cars, but i really don't know how to fly a plane.

any other suggestions for a plane would be great!but no ultra micros, i'd like to stick with the size of the hobbyzone super cub lp. and preferable a bush plane, and under $300 no matter what. thanks in advance!</p>

Of the ones you list above, the Hobbyzone Super Cub is well proven as a beginner's plane. That doesn't mean you don't still need instruction, but it is more forgiving than some of the others. Parts are readily available too.

i was thinking super cub, but how about some of the others?i like it and all, but i wouldn't mind having one plane that i can then upgrade to ailerons when the time comes to run ailerons without a lot of modification.

Hi!
You need help to fly all of those planes! The planes you show is more or less "Toy planes" to those of us that have been around this hobby for decades, as such I at least would not consider them suitable for newbies entering this hobby in a serious way.
A much better start is to first join a club and have a look what others fly! Most ot the time they don't fly that small planes, but planes more suitable for out door flying in every weather condition.

Of the ones listed the Apprentice is the best choice. Was my initial plane & bigger is better when learning. If you are willing to spend Apprentice money look into a Hobby-Lobby Sr. Telemaster.

A Telemaster will require a real runway and more supporting equipment, pushing his investment over the $300 limit he's set. It's a nice plane no doubt, but it's more than the OP is looking to get into.

I'll second that the Apprentice is the best trainer out of the ones you've selected. I had recommended the Super Cub because you said you wanted a tail dragger. Jaka is right too. None of these planes fly themselves and they certainly don't land themselves. If you have a patch of tall grass to set them down in you'll probably make it through your first few learning flights without much trouble, but I would at least recommend getting someone with experience to do the first flight on whatever you buy to get the trims and throws set right. If you can manage joining a club, that's by far the best way to learn.

I also am wondering what kit to get to start into the hobby I really don't want to spend over $100 as I have never flown before.
these kits seem to have good reviews &amp; videos Ihave seen.

J3 3 channel
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=16824

J3 Super Cub 3 channel
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14512

Another question is do I need to go to a certain place to fly them or can I fly it at a field not far from my house that often has no people there &amp; nice open area without trees.

Thanks

You don't get much in this hobby for $100. I haven't flown either of those planes, but given Hobby King's reputation I'm thinking they are underpowered with poor part support. At that price level, keep an eye out in the local Craigslist for something better. As to where to fly, a wide open space on public land can work if your local regulations don't prohibit it. For bigger planes and any that use a fuel engine, they have to be flown on private land or a dedicated RC club field.

I agree with the supper cub, my friend wanted to get into rc flying . He bought the super cub and with me helping him one day only. He was able to hand launch it and fly it, it was good practice while I was teaching him to fly the bigger glow trainer!

Cost is an issue, the more you spend on the first plane will mean the more it will cost to fix or replace.

If you can get some one to help you, as much as they will.

good luck

hey guys, i don't really want to go and fly at a field right now, and for where i plan on flying, the planes i selected are perfect size. i have a school with a nice field set up right by my house, it's a short walk away. i also selected the planes im'p considering because most of them are ~1/10th scale ish. so they would be perfect for me, since i want this plane because i'm into 1/10 th scale scale rc rock crawlers. i added the apprentice because it looked good more than anything.

as to the foamies I likebeing toys, that really depends on why your getting one. for sure they will kill anything you get at walmart, so i would not consider them a toy. i'm getting them for parkflying and lake flying once i'm more experienced. i don't have an instructor accesible, so something that is easily repaired is nice as well.

If you're flying near a school it would be wise to be aware of where the buildings are cars are. Even a little slow airplane can cover a lot of distance in a hurry. Any wind will toss them around, which can cause an inexperienced pilot to lose orientation very quickly. If you don't have an insurance policy (personal liability rider or AMA) you will be financially responsible for anything your plane hits.

for now i'm not going to be getting an AMA license, i will  eventually, if i get further into planes. the place i'm flying at is kinda cool since the ground drops away ~50 feet in a slope to the school  field, and it practically has a runway, that is somewhat sheltered from the wind.

No such thing as an AMA license. It is a membership

Last thing we want is the Washington State DOT, and DOL getting involved in our hobby.

Just make sure that whatever you choose - it should put a smile on your face.

I got a Super Cub BNF for Christmas and Ipicked up Phoenix with the Spektrum DX5e. I've gotten a lot of practice on Phoenix and have since joined a local flying club and purchased a larger glow-powered trainer plane. I'll be getting instruction starting in May.

You can&rsquo;t learn on your own!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don&rsquo;t join a club, have pro-flyers set up your plane, maiden it, teach you everything, hold your hand the whole way, it is impossible to learn to fly.

Not only that but really bad things will start to happen!!!
The seas will boil, the skies will fall, your favorite TVshow will be cancelled, your car will get poor gas mileage, and your utility bills will double. You&rsquo;ll get warts, bad breath, dry mouth, athlete&rsquo;s foot, and a rash. Communism will thrive, democracy will be at risk, and the terrorists will win!

Having someone experienced mentor you probably would save crashes, time, and money.
that being said...

I'm just starting as well
I'm going to be teaching myself.
i'm going to be breaking planes.
I personally, will feel greater satisfaction with myself for having done it myself.
