Ihave always found it takes far more skill to fly an under powered A/C. It requires smooth, precise control inputs to acomplish what is a simple maneuver in an over powered A/C.
Amen. Ample power spoils you. When you then try and fly a "realistically" powered and relatively heavy airframe and have to rely on the wings doing their job it can be a frightening (and expensive) experience. We tend to bang the controls around and get out of touch with finesse flying. Iused to fly my Hot Stik using no more that 1/4 throttle even for takeoffs just to get the real feel for how it flew. Anything will fly with enough thrust. Good airframes fly with very little thrust.
