MY DAD GAVE ME A ARF BUT HAS SOME AGE ON IT. THE PARTS LIST IS OLDER AND REF #S DO NOT CORRESPOND. anyone have any suggestions on a motor/battery . it has a 380 chinese motor in it with nothing else. It is a dymond kit.</p>

You have the right idea. Especially with some Dymond offerings, you want to get help from an experienced RC'er.
When you find that person, and fill him in on the details of the ARF, I expect he will recommend an alternate first plane, and save the one you have for some later date, when you have experience. You'll spend about the same money.

By the time you get the parts together for 380 sized airplane(motor, speed controller, battery), you will probably be close to the price of one of the bind-and-fly planes with a radio. What model is it?
