Got my wings!
Another excellent night at the Stetson Flight School. Four solo flights in a stiff crosswind - good rudder practice on the ground and in the air. And when the wind and the sun had dropped significantly - flight test!
I was certainly nervous - my Dad was there as were club members, instructors and fellow students, several of whom I've gotten to know. But as soon as I taxied into takeoff position, I forgot all that. It was just me, the CFI and the flight. One of my better performances so far - it wasn't perfect but it went very well, including the takeoffs, touch and go, powered landing, figure eights (which I hadn't much practice on) and the dead stick landing (which I'd only practiced on the simulator). The end result was a pass, my wings, and the privilege of flying on my own in future.
The Stetson Flyers Flight School is an excellent way to learn. I owe much of my success to the dedicated instructors and staff and the supportive members and students. Thank you, folks. It's very much appreciated.

RE: Got my wings!
Guys,
Thanks for the props (pun intended).
This wasn't my first solo - that happened the previous session, and Ihad four more solos last night. This was the check flight, closely monitored by the CFI. According to the club Inow have my wings, which allows me to fly without an instructor present.
At any rate Iam totally pumped and looking forward to many hours at the field, carefully sanding the rough edges off my flying skills.
Cheers!

RE: Got my wings!
Congratulations!
It's great to hear from someone who set out to do something and did it - Too many give up too early these days, so you've accomplished something worth lots of praise!
My club was pretty sneaky for my wings flight... I was flying solo, and my instructor asked me to complete several maneuvers that would be asked for on a flight that was being judged. Everything went well, I landed, and it turns out that the guys who weren't flying were actually watching me the whole time! No stress this way, and I've been addicted ever since!
