Hey, I just lost my hobbico superstars wings to a tree and need new ones. Anyone think avistar wings would work, to make it a little more responsive?

hmm this is a good question... i would say if the wing cord is the same that it would work(width of the wing) even if it isnt the same length chord it would probably be an easy modification...
maybe you could bring your fuselage down to you LHS and see if they will open the avistar box and see if the wing will fit... my guess is that it will work ok...

The superstar is a flat bottom wing, and the avistar is a semi-semetrical(sp?), so the superstar wing saddle(thats wat its called rite?) is flat so there be a big gap there. Thats the only reason why i dont think it would work. It would look pretty dumb since the wing is gonna have a dif trim sceme than the fuse. Just my 2 cents.

First off, the Avstar's wing chord is much less. Using the rubber bands to hold it on and keeping it in the right spot for the CG will be hard.
About the wing saddle thing, that won't word. The Avstar's wing is not flat on the bottom and you will have to find some way to shim up the LE and all kinds of all stuff so the incidence is correct...
Not worth it...

It's actually not that hard to kludge together an addition to the wingsaddle to fit the other wing. But I have to agree, it's not likely to be worth the trouble.

I just looked on Tower's web site. Here's what I saw.
The Superstar wing is $69.
The Avistar 40II ARF is $99.
 For only 30 bucks more you can do the upgrade since you already have the engine and radio.
Something to think about.

Phi3l, I have considered that, but there is a guy that sells them for $55 shiped and thats where i was going to get them from. However, I am still too cheap to do that and have decided to repair the wings i have. It was a little bit of work and i had to get some extra monokote but they are as good as new now. Thanks all for the input.
