Default Buddy box dx7/dx5

Can you buddy box a dx7 with a dx5? I have a dx7 bound to my planes and purchased a used dx5 so i could get some of my friends interested in the hobby by buddy boxing. I followed all the instructions supplied in the dx7 manual but i couldn't get the dx7 and dx5 to work. My cousin had another dx7 on site and everything worked properly when i set both the radios to buddy box settings. So, is it possible to buddy box a dx7 with a spektrum dx5? If so what exactly are the steps i need to take to get the two transmitters to communicate properly?

I buddy box a DX7 as the master to a DX5 all the time, not sure about the other way around in my case there is no need. You will need to enable the trainer function on the respective aircraft and leave the DX5's power switch off to have it work with the DX7. You will also need good batteries in the DX5.

I'll be paying attention to this thread, I am going to be using a DX5E with a DX8 (If possible) soon!

Sucessfully buddyboxed the DX8 (Master), with a DX5E (Slave) today. Pretty easy, tested before flight with no issues.

I have a x9303 2.4 and picked up a Dx5 and have used it for a buddy box for my X9303. They don't sell a Buddy box for mine and I could pick up the dx5 cheap.
