Default What I like about the Apprentice 15E

Ease of setup, the RXR version I got, just glue the wing together with 30 minute epoxy, stick the plastic caps on the LE and TE, bolt the tail on, hook up the linkages, install the RX, setup the radio and you are done. By the time the Epoxy cures you are ready to fly.

Ease of flying. With Dual rates and some Expo dialed in, she flies smooth and easy, go full rates and no expo and the plane has some nice moves that would tear a glow plane the same size apart. It can do a 10' loop inside and out. It flies upside down with very little input.

Ruggedness, with my landings, a built up wood plane would have been in pieces by now. My typical landing is usually tipping over onto its tail because I fly in grass. For most of my mishaps I just go over to it, put it back on its wheels and it takes right off and flies around like nothing happened. How many planes do you know that can do a cart wheel when taking off, land back on its wheels and then take off just fine? When Ican get the nose to stay up when landing she rolls in nice and smooth. One of my mishaps has resulted in broken parts, a fin, a motor mount, and a wing, all three from smacking nose first into the side of a barn when I got my right mixed with my left. The wing I can repair, but decided to just put a new one on since they aren't that expensive.

Today a strong cross wind flipped it on takeoff, I just couldnt get it to stay into the wind and the plane rolled and slammed onto its nose. End result, firewall separated from the fuse. A few dabs of silicone gasket maker, and let it cure, and good as new.

Price, the RXR was around $249, the RX about $50, and the batteries are the same as myT34, so Ican use them in both planes. Repair costs are low, A tube of Epoxy, some foam safe CA, and some Gorrilla glue in the flight box are all that is needed along with tape to hold it together while the glue dries. Ihad a really bad landing that resulted in snapping the fues at the tail, some epoxy, some tape, and its back in the air.

Overall a Really good starter plane.
