Default Back in the game!

So I took my first lesson today with my Alpha .40 trainer. Went really well, I started out with running a race track pattern and figure eights . Then my instructor let me do passes over the runway and after that he allowed me to land which I did great...I did break the 3 blade prop on 3rd landing due to a small bounce but my instructor said it would have not broke if it was a master screw prop....the one I had was just a cheapo that came with the plane.

it was kinda like riding a bike....took a little bit but I I got the hang of it real quick again.

this hobby is more fun then I remember!
Awesome! Glad you had a successfull first flight, sounds like you chose a good instructor! First two landings without any damage, and then just a prop from a bounce...... exceptional. Keep us informed how your next session goes!

A prop or two is no big deal. Good job!!! Heck, I was buying props for my trainer a half dozen at a time.

Only use wood props. Otherwise you will not improve your landings as quickly.

Only plane I use the Master Air Screw props on is the trainer, I taught three students with that one prop. It was a bit shorter when I finally threw it away but it was still in balance!!. One prop, that was a great day. Like Dick, I was buying my own training props in bulk.

Good job "89"!! And don't be afraid to get your instructor to give you a hand with your J-3 cub's first flight or two. Don't want to hurt that baby. Get real comfortable with the Alpha before you get that Cub up, they will fly differently. Keep practicing and enjoy!

Thanks guys, I plan on flying this bird for quite a while before I take out the J-3. I also already told the guys at the field about the Piper and a bunch of them were more then willing to help look it over and maiden it for me.

Sounds familiar! I'm recently back into it after 23 years and it came back after a few laps around the field, soloed on my third flight. I can't believe I stayed away for so long, all the fun I missed! Oh well, time to make up for lost fun!
