Default Wing area calculation?

Hi,

was comparing figures on my existing airplane v/s the figures given on the website. Just want to clear a basic question- when manufacturers mention wing area, is it calculated from the wing root where it meets the fuselage or from the centreline of the fuse (by drawing an imaginary line from LE and TE upto the centreline and calculating from there)?

The later, you include the area from the center line of the fuselage to the wing tip.

Simply put, its the span times the average chord and the span is measured from tip to tip.
