Default Seagul Ultimate bi-plane arf

new to this site but not flying. im used to the foamy planes and I have a couple nitro planes. I just got me a ultimate bi-plane and I would like suggestions on what type of metal gear servos would be best , and what engine would be best I know that I want to do a 4-stroke in this plane and not a 2 stroke. any help with what I should get to build this plane right will be greatly appreciated.

thanks pat

What size is this plane?, as you will know servo and engine selection will always revolve around that.

[h=3]Needed To Complete[/h].91–1.25 2- or 4-Stroke Glow Engine
Glow Plug (Engine Specific)
Silicone Fuel Line
6-Channel Radio System with 6 Digital Servos
Propeller
2.75" (70mm) Spinner

Probably the largest 4 stroke you can buy to put in it, you don't want to go too large, the weight penalty will offset the power gained and make it somewhat difficult to balance.

This is the recommended completion kit, you don't have to buy their servos, but look at the specs and try to find the equivalent from somewhere that suits you. The recommended 125 is an animal, and once broken in, should haul you around with no problem. Make sure to completely epoxy the firewall to avoid failure in that area.

I know you want a 4 stroke, but I have a OS 1.20 AX and I have no regrets. It's a monster. And it balances nicely with a receiver battery just behind the firewall. I use hitec 645MG servos in my bipe.

You just can't beat a YS 110, 115 or 120 for that type of airplane. Great power, easy to tune once you get the hang of them, they allow you to place the fuel tank on the CG and if you need assistance tech support is fantastic through YS Performance and there are a bunch of guys here on RCU in the scale racing forum that easily have a combined 30 years of experience running them, the pattern guys have a wealth of knowledge as well.

+1! put a YS 120 in there and you'll have yourself one great airplane.
I've got half a dozen YS four strokes, (all better than 10 years old) they are powerhouses and NOT terribly finicky once properly set up.

I have one with a Saito 1.00 on it and it is pretty anemic. I suspect a 1.20 would handle it perfectly.

Last weekend I got 4 runs on a brand new YS 115WS. On that last run it was spinning an APC 14X12 10K on a very rich setting. Went through 16 oz of fuel in about 7 min. I suspect I will have to jump up to a 14X13 to keep the RPMs in check. Sweet running engine.
