Default Landing Gear

My 35-1/2" WS Yak all Foam electric plane, tail dragger, has a very weak main landing gear. The gear keeps bending and eventually it broke. I replaced it with a torsion bar type landing gear that is working out perfectly. The gear is made from 3/32" diameter music wire as shown on the attached two photos. The distance between the two bends that make up the torsion bar is 5-1/4" but I have decided it is too soft, so I am suggesting it be 4-1/4". The gear is anchored by some wood popsicle sticks glued to the foam and then tied with string thru the fuselage.

Very cool Villa and excellent adaptation on a profile of the old torsion bar gears seen on so many airplanes from the past Funny you don,t see as many these days on new designs and they work so good.

Hi John Buckner
For some reason I like landings and sometimes make one every lap of the field. That gear will literally last forever. We have 3-4 of those planes at our field, but after their gear broke they just removed the gear and belly landed. The gear is very simple to make.
