Default Hangar 9 pro links measurement

Are the hangar 9 pro links measured from end to end or just the non threaded part?

I have a 2 and 1/4 inch gap from the end of my ball links.

I have 3 and 3/8 total (I would have to screw the rod all the way into the ball links)

So should I go with 2 and 1/2 inch length or 3 inch length?

The answer to this question is from end to end. You have a half inch of threads on each side. The 3 inch rod worked great (but after centering and fine adjustments it was not quite threaded in all the way to the links).
