Default Hobbyzone champ prop question

I just replaced the prop and prop shaft on my champ. I sat the prop next to a cup and turned the prop over. One blade comes a little closer than the other one. Are the parts cheap enough that they are not that precise. I used no tools except for my hands installing the gear and such so I know I didn't over stress anything. Any ideas, Thanks.

What you are refering to is called "tracking". In other words, how closely one blade follows in the path of the other blade. Most people do not concern themselves with it unless they are using larger more expensive props.

How much difference do you measure?

It could be indicative of a bent motor shaft. After balancing the prop, look closely for vibration when you run up the motor. With an electric, there should be no noticeable shaking on the front of the plane.

tacx, Its probably 3/16 of an inch. these parts have never been flown. I am new to this and since this is my trainer I know it will get beat up. I just like things as good as I can get them so things will last. Jester its a geared unit so the prop is on the prop shaft and not the motor shaft. Thanks for both replys.

Well then it could be a bent prop shaft. But if it's new and totally unflown, it's probably just a crooked prop adapter or (not very common) an out of square prop hub.

If this is the micro, is there any possibility that you possibly screwed the prop on slightly crooked. I have the micro Champ, and J3 Cub, and for the life of me can't remember which one, but I did screw one on slightly crooked before and had to re-install it.

Thanks for the reply, I would have figured the shaft would have followed the hole in the prop but maybe not. I will give that a try. Thanks
