Default Help: Black Horse Model 71" Piper J-3 setup

Got this never-flown Piper on craigslist with no manual or directions. Planning to fly electric.
Anyone flew this bird? Where's the CG? What motor recommended?

I haven't heard of Black Horse before, but a Cub is a Cub. Measure the wing chord and put the CG at 25-26% back from the leading edge. 71" will be a smallish .40 size Cub, so any motor intended to substitute for a .40-.46 will do fine. Pick the lower Kv choice within that range so you can use the bigger props since Cubs are so draggy. You can get amp draw data once you've chosen a motor and a prop in order to buy the right batteries.

If you are a beginer this is not really a beginer friendly airplane . get someone farmiliar with cubs to help you to start out . They can be a handfull to get in the air .Once in the air they are a bit easier to handle . Good luck

I consider myself intermediate skill; this is my 20th plane. My first Piper Cub however and wasn't sure where the CG is.
