Default Spinners

Is it common to remove material from the prop openings in the spinner to allow you to assemble the spinner with it's back plate? I have not been able to put it on? It's a Dubro 2" plastic Spinner. If I ever get it back on I will have to take it apart to balance it again. I have to be doing something wrong?

Some propellor brands and/or sizes need larger cut-outs than some spinners provide. Tru-Turn, for example, will cut their spinners to fit your specific prop. You can try a thinner prop, a different spinner, or enlarge the openings on your existing spinner. You do need to worry about the balance of the spinner though. Keep the cut-outs as close to the same size and as symmetrical as possible and rebalance when your done.

Thanks for your response! I hacked away at the openings yesterday just to clear the prop. When I get to my shop today I will make sure both openings are alike. I have sufficient clearance now but still can't snap it together. I'll try some different brands.

A light tap with a rubber hammer usually does it.

I'm a pretty big guy and not known to give "light taps" but will try! Thanks again!

No just a sharp little rap with a rubber hammer, I used to use the palm of my hand but got tired of the bruising.

That works for the plastic spinners that are tight to seat. Not for ones where the openings are not large enough for the prop. Prop should never touch the sides of the spinner.

The spinner has already been cut to fit Rbacons.

I gave up trying to install the Dubro plastic spinner and got a Great Planes spinner with an aluminum back. Opened up the prop openings, made them both the same, balanced it and installed it without any issues.
