I am wanting to get a camera to record some flights and don't know what to buy. I found this on ebay:

Would this work? Does it plug into the receiver for power or what? Also how do you download the video? Any advice would be great

That camera is meant to be used with an on board transmitter for First Person View FPV flying. It will not record anything. Look for a used GoPro if you want great inflight recorded video.

I think a GoPro would be way too large and heavy to mount on an RC plane. What about this?

Hobby king had two small cameras perfect for this ! the wingcam, and the wingcam 2. Unfortunately the wingcam 2 doesn't show in stock anymore. The wingcam was around 50? and I paid 85 for the 2 version. but the resolution was SO good! I used it for years but something finally went wrong.. it had been in about 5 crashes and had gone 160 mph on a jet ! Most of the footage on my youtube taken the last few years is with the same camera.
