Default Removing paint

I'm trying to remove the paint that's on the canopy. The canopy is a clear, soft plastic and not stiff at all. I tried acetone on a Q tip which removes it but dulls the plastic beneath. I'll replace the paint with tape when done. Any thoughts?

I would look for a "safe" stripper. I know there are strippers that are made for things like FG, so you might check with a supply house that sells various types of paints and strippers.

Thanks for your response! I'll see what they have.

I'd replace the canopy.

It's an old Sportster kit and no longer available. I looked around for a replacement without any luck. Thanks for responding!

Would it be possible to use it, filled with something like plaster, to use as a plug to make more? Vaccuforming might be an option though you would need to make a more durable pattern

If it is a Sig Sportster, canopies can still be had from Sig, however if it is a "Sportmaster"
a canopy is available from Lazer-Works, http://lazer-works.com/john-burke-sportmaster-3.jpg

It's a Great Planes "Sportster". I've got the canopy pretty scratch free using "Mothers" plastic cleaner. I just might use some black trip tape over it. ??

If so inclined, the canopy could be painted. That's what I did on mine.

Nice job Tom! I've got an instrument panel and pilot in the cockpit so would like to see my work. Thanks for your comment and foto!

Tartar control Crest toothpaste will work. It will require some elbow grease though. Take your time and it will not harm the plastic.
