Registering with the FAA?

I read somewhere that if you fly rc anything, drone, fixed wing, helicopters, you must register with the FAA? Can someone verify that? $5 per aircraft? Or just $5 for the pilot? What happened while I wasn't reading?

Thanks for that. Been digging out from the snow we got, it buried my tractor, spent a lot of time shoveling.
I got that from a website where they sell drones. It didn't explain it well, and I didn't get a chance to look around for more information. I guess I will find a link for the FAA somewhere that will get me registered.

I would suggest NOT going to the above link.
This is the FAA registration site
https://faadronezone.faa.gov/#/
If it ends in .COM llike the above, then you could end up paying for someone to do something you can do yourself for 5 dollars.
Several commercial sites come up on a Google search but if you look at them carefully they say AD by them, you want to go to the .GOV site

Well, I think I posted that before my morning coffee. So initially I thought I had it right. But looking at it, I see it wasn't quite right. Thanks for catching that. Certainly not my intent to mislead people.
