From: gone,
Start out looking at a LOT of websites for information.
http://webpages.charter.net/rcfu/ (Howard Sullivan's site BEAUTIFUL!)
http://www.geocities.com/fredhh/FHH_Homepage.html (my OLD site. Good info... but I can't get in to edit it any more. )
http://home.hot.rr.com/fhh/ (my NEW site... just getting the info up... it'll be growing FAST)
www.spadtothebone.com (CHEAP aircraft... here's the plans. $10 and a radio... you can get in the air.)
Read a lot of the old beginner's posts here.
GET HELP! you try on your own... you'l break it for sure.

From: gone,
visit www.modelaircraft.org
Find the club locator page. (look around the site... lots of good stuff)
Find the club(s) in your area and give the club representative a call.
90%+ of AMA members are GLAD to help a beginner.
I'm in Killeen, TX... a bit too far to be the person you need to get in touch with.
